I knew it. I knew that when the Oklahoma City area business man Clay Bennett purchased the Seattle?

HockeyGuy asked:

Supersonics last year that his ultimate goal was to move the franchise, which has been in Seattle since 1967, to Oklahoma City. He continually lobbies for Seattle to build a new arena, because Key Arena is the smallest NBA arena, which seats only 17,072 for sold out Basketball games. However, the taxpayers already paid around 200 million or more in 1995 for the remodeling of it, and that debt hasn’t been paid off yet. The Key Arena is a nice place to see a game. It’s unique, and isn’t a cookie cutter 20,000 seat place. Every seat has a very good view. Bennetts motives were simple, from the beginning, he always wanted to move the franchise. Bill Gates or Paul Allen or other Seattle area billionaires should step in and buy the franchise from Clay, so we have some local ownership, and then keep the Sonics in Seattle. The Key Arena should just be re-modeled again and add another 3,000 seats to bring it up to 20,000. Building a new arena doesn’t make sense, you agree?

total agreement, im not a sonics fan, but i cant imagine the sonics being anywhere besides seattle, it just wouldnt feel right. they should keep the sonics in seattle, there is a lot of history up there with a lot of great players to come through there. payton, kemp, wilkens, sikma, brown, etc…

I couldnt agree more. Even the hornets weren’t getting a huge attendance in Oklahoma City while they were there just for the short time they were. If they were to leave, I think the best place for them would be St. Louis or Las Vegas. But still, they won’t make as much as they would in Seattle.
