How can I make a model volcano?

WhoAmI? asked:

For a science project, I have to make a model volcano. It doesn’t have to erupt, it just needs to show the parts of a volcano, such as a magma chamber, vent, pipe, etc. I looked around a bit, and found a few interesting ones, but I really don’t want to put a ton of effort and money into this. I have paint, spray paint, etc, but I don’t want to have to buy playdough or clay for the frame part. So, if you have some secret easy idea on how to build a volcano, PLEASE SHARE! This project is due on Friday, so please let me know your ideas ASAP! Thanks a lot!

Paper Mache works really well for this kind of thing.

Toilet roll, chicken wire, paper, flour and water. The rest is up to your imagination.

the one with the least amount of work is just make one out of news paper, soak the news paper in glue and put somethings together to make it shape like a triangle and just start piling down small pieces of glue newspaper into the thing and just keep doing that, add more to certain places to make it bumpy

After you make the paper machete model, you mix read or orange food coloring into regular house hold whit vinegar, when it hits baking soda, it will foam in orange or red.

You can have different colors IF you mix food coloring into baking soda and let it dry, and place it into the Volcano cone in sections.

its simple, really. all you need is a lot of water, a sand box, a bunch of kids, and some baking soda and vinegar…………
kids love to play in the mud, and building a fake volcano is right up their alley.
just kidding! good luck….
