Nucleus Ideas for a plant cell model?
Rcgrox asked:
In science we’re making cell models and im making a plant cell…and i’ve pretty much decided on everything im using and i already made the nucleus out of clay but wow(not to artistic and i would say it looks more like a banana lol) so clay’s out of the option…but i need some good ideas on what i could use for the nucleus…but im NOT going to use food because it can rot and it’s too messy so does any1 no anything? I have to be able to partially cut about 1/4 of it open to show some chromatin and the nucleolus so it has to be able to be cut but if any1 has previous experience or know’s something good kool and easy…pleze tell (thnks)

Small hollow ball cut open and plastic wrap to contain your chromatin and a small nucleolus if that’s required. Perhaps poke a few tiny holes in it to represent nuclear pores.
Nucleus stems from the Latin nux or nut (Webster). Therefore, show two (facing?) models. One can have a (walnut?) nut at its center that in fact contains the DNA for a single walnut tree (surround the nut with the rest of the cell). The second cell model should show how the ‘nucleus’ is also surrounded by the rest of the cell and contains the DNA … twisted strips of paper … needed to blueprint the entire plant.
mmm… for the cell, u could use a big styro ball… use beads, yarn, clay, tissue, etc for the organelles. for the nucleus, you could use a smaller styro ball… use yarn or thread for the chromatin… for the nucleolus, form it out of clay (having a nice color)..
be sure that your model would be colorful.. because people first notice colors than the type of material…
good luck! =D
