Making a Model of an Animal Cell?
Anna B. asked:
I have to make an animal cell for freshman biology, but I don’t want to do the same old boring clay. But at the same time it can’t be edible. Does anyone have any ideas? Plus I need the parts in it to, like mitochondria, gogli bodi etc.
Thanks!

my favorite way has always been papier-mache also known as glue covered paper.
Styrofoam is great and comes in several shapes and sizes. It can be found usually in the craft of the faux plant section. You can also use different colour pipe cleaner.
Take a large foam ball, and cut it in half, shove an old bouncy ball that in the middle for the nucleus/nucleolus.
For ribosomes, take tiny tiny rocks.
Golgi bodies and ER, use different colored string or floss.
Cytoskeleton, use sticks.
Good luck.
jello, jello is the best and most fun. do red m and m’s for the ribosomes or the lysosomes, do a golf ball for the nucleus, do string for mRNA if you want to put that in. be creative
How about a transparent beach ball that you can fill with your organelles, seal the hole using a bicycle tube repair kit, then partially inflate?
If its a presentation type of project then dress up. Wear a solid colored outfit (sweat pants and sweat shirt) make organelles out of fabric and stuff them with cotton or make them out of colored construction paper, then velcro the organelles to yourself so you can take them off as you explain each one.
