If I ever built again I would love a house with a hidden room. One behind a bookcase or a large picture. I would also choose something completely different from what I have know, with warm colours and wooden furniture.
I love the great outdoors, so my living room is decorated with lots of Black Bear stuff - candles, pictures, blankets, etc. - plus a few things with log cabins. I also have a friend who paints pictures of the French and Indian War period, so I have a historial portion. I am a huge Steelers’ fan (yes, I am upset about their loss today, but they will bounce back), so my foyer is decorated in Steelers’ motive. I like variety.

A bedroom with white wood furniture, A net on one wall filled with fish. Other nautical stuff on the other walls. Walls painted light blue. That would be so relaxing like I was on the east coast.
My livingroom looks like a hunting lodge deer and bear mounts on the wall, plaid furniture, an old console tv and a teak wallunit from overseas.
My bedroom on the other hand is soft and feminine with a canopy bed with all the sheer curtins,1000 tc sheets,feather bed,slik down comforter,ect.
The rest of the house is mostly comfortable.
