How to get rid of an annoying robin? Help please?

We have recently moved to a new home, now we have a robin that will come and peck the front windows, he will either peck, claw or just run into it. Use dark paper, the bird is getting a glare from the window and cannot see it, you can leave your window dirty for a year that will also train them not to fly into the window. We have noticed that a clean window is the window they will fly into and leave the dirty ones alone.
:S birds pecking at your window is a sign of death in the household :S
hopefully not but i think the best thing to do is shoot it or throw a bucket of water over it.
