Good arts and crafts for children ages 5-12 for the month of March - besides St Patrick’s Day stuff?

Bobbi asked:

I need some arts and crafts projects, the kids I work with are pretty sick of watercolor and drawing pictures on the days I can’t think of anything really good! We’ve got a wide variety of materials. Any suggestions would be great, they don’t HAVE to be associated with the month of March; anything unique would be cool to hear!

find a place on the map or a globe and than look up what they wear and do at that place, say England what do we know about this place kids. who lives there? what type of foods do they eat , what kind of clothes . the laws there . cars. and history of this place. and than when you look up some of these they can make meal , wear a Creation kind of clothes do a play and talk like them. watch movies about that place .

Last year my daughter brought home a welcome sign for the front door. It was made from popsicle sticks(like a picket fence) with a “garden” of flowers made from assorted wood shapes, like eggs (for petals and leaves) and circles. The word “welcome” was printed on a wooden arch shape, and ribbon was glued to the back of the fence, and the arch was glued near the top of the ribbon. Very colorful. And they made Easter baskets out of coffee cans, with a wire coat hanger cut for the handle. the teacher drilled holes in the sides of the can for the handles. The kids painted them flat white, then decorated them with paints and ribbon scraps.
And we have also made barns and houses for our little dolls and animals out of popsicle sticks. And hand-stamping christmas cards is always fun, or you could use faces of old Christmas and birthday cards to make new collage ones.

Try these pages for some holidays celebrated in March. Plus, March is National Crafts Month - there are tons of ideas out there. I like the weather page with “in like a LION, out like a LAMB” projects.

why don’t you bake something? like cookies!! they could be like slice-n-bake. those are hard to mess up. the kids could decorate them with like sprinkles and colored sugar. kids love eating their creations so they know what a good job they did. lolz. hope i helped!!

This is a diversified age group. Is it all one class, ie after school? You could make 3-D collages using strips of colored paper of varoius sizes, pinch, wrap, and wrinkle before gluing on to a strong colored paper. Make, they are called something like Los Dios, with two crossed popcycle and wrapped with several colors of yarn for varied patterns. You can find these in many kids craft books. Another craft to use is surface rubbing using the side of a crayon on manilla paper, either inside or outside; cement floor, heat grating, anything with a 3-D surface.
I’ve used all these and the kids had fun!

What about Easter projects egg dying/decorating

Make some salt dough that can be sculpted, then baked and painted. Get the kids to learn different sculpting techniques, much like working with clay. You could make themed sculpts such as sea animals, people, or pets!
There are tons of recipes online, but I like these
